R-CYCLE is a floorstanding lamp of 40W power that can mainly be used as indirect lamp in place of 200W alogen lamps.

The lamp varies automatically the color temperature depending on the light intensity set by the user, in order to have an always pleasant quality of light.
This agreeableness is achieved following Kruithoff’s curve, which, on the basis of a perceptual effect, shows that at low light intensities people prefer a warmer light.

The effect is technically realised by mixing, at high resolution and on a logaritmic curve, 15 LED of 3000K and 3 amber LED built with special phosphori.

Art and Design in Italy are closely linked. While design is based on functionality, art can freely experiment with abstract concepts, without the constraint of being useful. Antonio Barrese, artist and designer, has designed Alberodiluce (Treeoflight), a colossal kinetic and light sculpture, which exceeds 30 meters in height, that will be presented in Milan 18th December 2009.

Truly distinguishing in Alberodiluce is that the resulting visual effect can only be guessed, but not definable a priori, since it needs functioning to be set. It is only through the real time combination of the rotation and the pulse of the many colored LED lights that you can see Alberodiluce: perception and function are not separable. For this reason, a flexible, yet simple, control system is essential to realize the will of the artist.

LuxPulse has designed and built the control system of the TreeofLight, working closely with AEMI, which realized the electronics and the embedded software. The system consists of a software with a dedicated interface for the setting and the storing of different parameters related to the colors and the ignition timing of the LEDs columns. Datas are transmitted via ArtNet protocol over a wireless network, made with WiliGear devices, to a DMXPen interface which stores them permanently and pilots the AEMI control units.

More information about this work of Kinetics Light Art is available on the dedicated blog: AlberodiLuce.
